BJP MP Khagen Murmu, recovering in a Siliguri hospital after a stone-pelting attack, recounted the horrifying assault in Jalpaiguri's Nagrakata area, alleging that the assailants were TMC workers claiming to be "Didi's (West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) men".
Speaking to India Today TV from his hospital bed despite a fracture below his left eye, Murmu said the attackers openly told him BJP leaders would not be allowed in the area and that they intended to kill him.
"They wanted to kill me, but we somehow managed to run away and save our lives," Murmu said. "Our car windshield was smashed, stones were pelted at me, and one stone hit me on the face. I started bleeding immediately."
