GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The City of Grand Rapids is asking the community for ideas that could lead to curbing gun violence in the city.

The program is organized by the Safe Alliances for Everyone (SAFE) Task Force, an anti-violence initiative that works to lower violence in communities.

Between now and Oct. 23, nonprofit organizations and individuals can submit proposals for ideas or programs that could reduce gun violence in Grand Rapids.

The SAFE Task Force will select up to five proposals to be awarded $10,000 to fulfill their proposals.

The City provides anyone interested in making a proposal with a copy of the Grand Rapids Police Department Strategic Plan , the City of Grand Rapids Strategic Plan and the SAFE Report and Recommendations .
