BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — It’s more than just stop, drop, and roll, and the Red Cross of Louisiana is stepping up to inform communities during Fire Prevention Week.
Fire Prevention Week is a time to raise awareness about fire safety and educate families on how to prevent home fires.
It helps people learn important steps like creating escape plans and checking smoke alarms. Executive Director of Capital-West Chapter, Micah Nicholas, says these are lessons he and his volunteers are constantly trying to share.
"In addition to helping families by installing smoke alarms, a lot of the work we do is around helping families to prepare an escape plan," said Nicholas.
