The Government has taken a major step in boosting the state’s growth by approving a new mega refinery project at Ramayapatnam Port in Nellore district. Through Government Order (GO) No. 180, the state has allotted land and offered incentives for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to set up this massive facility.

It is said to be a major project and would expand the role of the location and establishment of Ramayapatnam port for long term goals. The refinery will be built with an investment of ₹96,862 crore, spread across 6,000 acres of land near Ramayapatnam Port. Once completed, it will have the capacity to process 9 to 12 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of crude oil.
