ALBANY, La. (WAFB) - A person shot in Livingston Parish is facing an arson charge after officials say the shooter acted in self-defense to prevent a house fire.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to the scene of a shooting on Catholic Hall Road in the Albany area around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Deputies said one person was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg, while another person was detained for questioning.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office announced that the investigation now points to the shooter acting in self-defense.
