WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A mammographic technologist is speaking on the importance of early screenings after her own battle with breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin yearly screenings for breast cancer between the ages of 40 and 44. The screenings could be recommended sooner if a person has a history of breast cancer in their family.
Lanie Daniels, a Mammographic Technologist at Wilmington Health, helps hundreds of women get screened for breast cancer. She knows the importance of an early screening all too well.
“I myself had breast cancer 13 years ago. I found it myself, and it was caught relatively early,” said Daniels.
