NEW ORLEANS — Derrick Groves, the last remaining fugitive from is now in custody after a standoff with police in Atlanta Wednesday. Authorities said a Crimestoppers tip led to his recapture.
Officers surrounded a home on Honeysuckle Lane in southwest Atlanta after a Crimestoppers tip indicated that Groves might be inside.
The home was gassed multiple times, said Bryan Fair with the U.S. Marshals Service. He said authorities searched the home for about three hours and "Groves was finally located in a crawl space."
That's when authorities said he moved to the basement, a canine was deployed and Groves surrendered.
No one was injured during the operation. Authorities said the connection to the home is under investigation. Neighbors say they had noticed suspicious activity at the house for
