BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — In fiscal year '24, about 48,700 North Dakotans used the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). That's 6.1% of North Dakota's population.

SNAP benefits are adjusted annually to account for the cost of living and inflation. SNAP benefits will rise; however, raises do not keep pace with the rate of inflation. The new raises will include an additional $6 for single-person households, $10 for two-person households, $17 for three-person households, and up to $33 for eight-person households. Maximum benefits for households with more than eight people actually decreased from $220 per additional person to $218 per additional person.
