ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A New Orleans jail escapee convicted of murder has been arrested in Atlanta after months on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Derrick Groves is one of 10 inmates who escaped the Orleans Parish Jail by crawling through a hole behind a toilet in May, the Associated Press reported. The other nine were caught within days or weeks, leaving Groves as the last one at large.

The 28-year-old was convicted of killing two people last year. According to prosecutors, a fight with other drug dealers led him to bring an assault rifle to a family block party and open fire.
Despite his conviction, Groves was still in jail instead of prison
