Abraham the camel, also known as the Camel for Christ , has died.

Abraham was well-known throughout the Midlands for his yearly appearance in the Jesus Is His Name drama, as well as appearances at community parades, nursing homes, schools, church events, family parties and more for over 29 years. Abraham fell ill over the weekend, and according to a Facebook post by his owners, passed away early Tuesday morning.

"Well, not the outcome we prayed for but God’s will. Abraham’s surgery lasted until 12 a.m. So long. They did all they could. Unfortunately, he died at 2 a.m. this morning in recovery," said Clifford and Maggie Jean Fisher, Abraham's owners.

The family had owned Abraham for his entire 29 years of life, and said he was truly a part of their family.
