Derrick Groves, the last of the 10 escaped inmates who fled the Orleans Parish jail in the middle of the night in May, was recaptured in Atlanta on Wednesday after a standoff with law enforcement.
His arrest marks the end of a months-long saga, set off when the group fled from the lockup after breaking through a cell door and sliding through a hole in the wall behind a toilet as a lone guard took a meal break.
Though a majority of the inmates were recaptured in the first month, Groves, who is considered the most violent of the escapees, has remained elusive. A $50,000 reward, pooled together from multiple agencies, was being offered for information leading to his arrest.
Here's a timeline of the efforts to recapture all 10 inmates.
