Eighty years after the Japanese surrendered, formally ending World War II, CNN’s Stephanie Elam sat down with US Navy veteran Doyle Boothroy, who served on the USS Missouri during the war. Boothroy says he first boarded the Missouri in February of 1945 when he was 19 years old. He recalls what life was like on the “Mighty Mo,” sailing close to a typhoon and watching as members of the Japanese Imperial Government boarded the Missouri on September 2, 1945, to take part in the surrender ceremony. #CNN #News
