GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids city officials are seeking the public’s ideas on how to curb gun violence in the community.

The city is hosting its annual Pitch and Highlight Night on Tuesday, Oct. 28, where community members and nonprofit organizations are invited to come share their ideas on how to reduce gun violence.

Five of those proposals will be offered $10,000 and a partnership with the city’s SAFE task force to implement their idea, the city stated in a news release.

“The upcoming Pitch and Highlight Night is a catalyst,” said Asante Cain, staff liaison for the task force. “We know that the most effective solutions to address violence in Grand Rapids often come directly from our neighborhoods.
