BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Lost Hills community can look forward to enjoying high-speed internet access with affordable rates next year, after the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement to install the necessary equipment and infrastructure to bring broadband network services to the area.

The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved a $599,283 agreement with unWired Broadband, an internet provider for rural and underserved communities in Central and Northern California, during its meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

According to county officials, Lost Hills will have access to the following upon completion of the project: • Wireless technology that delivers high-speed internet over long distances, including in hard-to-reach areas. • Affordable rates and speed options
