KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) – A Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Officer was apparently assaulted by an inmate on Tuesday night.
According to HPD, the incident happened at approximately 9:15 p.m. when a 48-year-old woman became combative while being escorted from the Kapolei Police Station cell block for transport.
Police said that the 48-year-old woman then kicked the officer, causing injury to the officer’s knee.
The 48-year-old woman was additionally arrested for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in the First Degree and returned to her cell without further incident.
Officials confirmed that the involved officer was treated at a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
