NEW YORK STATE (WENY) -- Medicare funding is at the forefront of the government shutdown with both Senate Republicans and Democrats entrenching themselves on either side of the debate to keep Medicare and Medicaid fully funded.
The Government remains shut down with talks to re-open progressing slowly. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) expressed her concerns with the prospect of premiums rising across New York State if subsequent tax credits are scrapped.
"With enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire as many of as 20 million Americans could see their premium skyrocket, paying thousands more for healthcare, or losing their coverage entirely," said Gillibrand.
