Donations will be spent on food for teachers, who could sign up by visiting the Local 38 and Local 55 websites, said Stephani Clements, president of the Alberta Teachers' Association Local 38

Some Calgarian parents are donating their daily $30 allowance from the province they are receiving as compensation for a teachers’ strike to local teachers’ unions, whose members have walked off their jobs without pay, says a local union president.

“We’ve heard from some parents who said, ‘I don’t want this $30 a day payment for my kids; I want to get back to teachers,'” said Stephani Clements, president of the Alberta Teachers’ Association Local 38.
