MADISON (WKOW) — One of the students who was shot at Abundant Life Christian School in December 2024 was released from American Family Children's Hospital.

According to a hospital spokesperson, Samy Garduno-Martinez was discharged for continued recovery to a facility in Chicago. They declined to comment on his condition.

Samy's family recently shared more information about his recovery journey on a GoFundMe page . His mother said he was shot at least two times in his head, once in his lower back and once in his right arm. After the shooting, Samy went into emergency surgery for brain swelling and damage to his kidney and liver. He fell into a coma and was placed in the ICU.
