ST. LOUIS — Police on Wednesday asked for help from the public in investigating the death of a woman found dead Friday in the 7600 block of Hall Street near the site of the city's former workhouse jail.

The name of the woman, Monyiah Holman, 27, was released Wednesday.

A utility worker discovered Holman's body around 10 a.m. in a vacant lot near the former jail, along the north St. Louis riverfront, police said.

The St. Louis medical examiner's office said an autopsy would be conducted.

Police said Holman's death has not officially been ruled a homicide. Anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts leading up to Friday is asked to call police at 314-444-5371.
