DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A Preble County man has spoken out for the first time since being shot last month.

The victim spoke to 2 NEWS by phone from his hospital bed about what happened on the night of Sept. 30 in the Lake Lakengren community.

The man said the shooting came after a series of arguments between the suspect and himself in the Finland Drive home.

"He walks to his room, and you can hear him unzip a bag and pull a shotgun out and cock it back,” said the victim.

At that moment, he had only one thing on his mind: defense.

"I grabbed my gun and cocked it back,” he said. “I told him that if he used to come around the corner and point a gun at me, I was going to shoot him, but he didn't.”
