Security guard charged after armed confrontation at Tampa apartment complex

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A private security guard has been charged with aggravated assault after a confrontation with a visitor at an apartment complex on Monday, authorities said.

Tampa police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. at the Silver Oaks Apartments.

Investigators said security guard Cameron Fisher, 35, got into a verbal dispute with a visitor, later identified as Ike Thompson, who had come to see his girlfriend at the complex.

According to police, Thompson began recording the security guards near the front gate after an earlier dispute about parking.

Investigators said the confrontation escalated when Fisher displayed his firearm in a threatening manner while Thompson was inside his vehicle, parked across the street from the complex.
