We’re seeing scammers recycle old tactics like impersonating influencers or celebrities and reaching out directly through social media apps like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. The goal is to build trust quickly and then exploit it for money or personal information.

How do these social media scams typically work?

Here’s a common scenario:

• You get a message from someone who claims to be a celebrity or influencer.

• They offer profit shares, exclusive meetups, or ask for donations to a “charity.”

• The conversation evolves, sometimes into a romantic relations
