LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – It’s hard to ignore the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been feeling for this time of year. It’s been fall for a while now, but many Mid-Michiganders are wondering when it’ll start to look like it. 6 News spoke with local experts to get some answers.
The sounds of leaf crunching have officially returned, but they haven't been coupled with the vibrant fall colors michiganders are used to.
“The biggest thing really is the the night time temperatures,” said Dr. Bert Cregg, professor of horticulture and forestry at Michigan State University.
Cregg says recent unseasonable weather has created a challenge for our fall foliage.
“[We need] clear days and cool nights, kind of like we have right now today, but we need it a little bit longer,” said Cregg.
