WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — According to Wilson County residents, a failing sewage system is polluting a popular lake and overflowing into homeowners' yards.
On Monday, Oct. 6, the Southern Environmental Law Center filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Sierra Club and the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association against the companies that own and operate the sewage system.
News 2 spoke to a neighbor who lives near Old Hickory Lake and has been asking for this system to be fixed for years.
“I’ve lived just right down the road here and been kayaking this since 2002,” Cris Corley, former chair of the Tennessee chapter of Sierra Club, said.
However, Corley started noticing green algae in Old Hickory Lake a few years ago.
