EUGENE, Ore. – A 69-year-old Eugene man was cited for allegedly failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk following a west Eugene vehicle versus pedestrian crash, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Fire and emergency dispatch logs show emergency personnel were dispatched at about 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 8 to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the area of West 2nd Avenue and Chambers Street. The driver, identified as Ronald Eugene Johnson, was traveling eastbound in the left turn lane of West 2nd Avenue in order to turn to head north on Chambers Street, police said. Authorities said Johnson struck a pedestrian, a 44-year-old Junction City man, that was in the crosswalk. A passing Eugene Springfield Fire stopped and rendered aid to the victim while the Johnson stayed on scene, pol
