FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Franklin Police Department is hosting a course to teach their community how to protect themselves in an active shooter situation.

It's something the Franklin Police Department hosts a few times throughout the year. The department hopes Franklin residents will come out and learn about what to do in an active shooter situation. Public Information Officer for the Franklin Police Department Max Winitz said officers hope no one ever finds themselves in an active shooter situation, but no community in this country is immune from shootings happening.

The department has a strong turnout for their previous active shooter trainings. Winitz said the last several they hosted were packed to capacity, and they’re expecting the same results for this one.
