SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Board of County Commissioners proclaimed October as “National Disability Employment Awareness Month” on Tuesday.
“Workplaces that welcome the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, are a critical part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and a strong economy,” BCC officials stated.
Employers, schools and other community organizations are being urged to encourage and support people with disabilities within the workplace and community by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, Washington State Developmental Disabilities Community Services and Spokane County.
