DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – Southwest Colorado is gearing up for heavy rain and potential flooding this weekend. The La Plata County Office of Emergency Management, along with area fire departments, is giving away free sand and sandbags at the county fairgrounds in Durango, as well as the Upper Pine Fire Protection District Fire Station 1 in Bayfield.

Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
