New Delhi: Egypt have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 with an easy 3-0 victory against Djibouti in Casablanca, which gave them a top spot in Group A with one game remaining.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored a brace and Ibrahim Adel also netted on Wednesday, as they became the third African nation after Morocco and Tunisia to seal their place in next year’s tournament in North America.
Salah has netted nine goals in Egypt’s marathon qualifying campaign that started two years ago. Egypt have participated in three previous World Cups but didn’t qualify for the 2022 edition in Qatar, where Morocco had their best campaign as semifinalists and Tunisia were eliminated in the group stage.
