MINNEAPOLIS — Residential solar panels are often touted as a clean alternative source of electricity that can save homeowners a significant amount of money, but do the numbers add up?

Rajiv Garg recently installed a system of 60 solar panels on his home, and he is just starting to see the financial benefits.

“They have been generating electricity for a few months now,” Garg said. “Last month, my bill went from $850 to $100. It’s a pretty significant difference.”

Garg says his family uses a lot of electricity, and that is the primary reason why he wanted to install solar panels.

“This is for the future of our children, our grandkids, and we thought this was the right way to go,” Garg said.
