Nazareth Area High School senior midfielder Luca Noto’s experience during the 100 minutes of the Blue Eagles ’ 1-1 draw at Easton on Wednesday night was much like a boxer who endures a series of standing-eight counts only to rally and deliver the knockout punch in the later rounds.

In fact, Noto’s assist on Pablo Puente’s tying goal came less than three minutes after he nearly was KO’d by Easton goalie Matthew Laquintano’s follow-through after punching a ball out of harm’s way near the top of the penalty box. The netminder’s double-fisted stroke inadvertently struck Noto squarely in the face.
