A multimillion-dollar Airbnb has been reduced to rubble after a ferocious blaze tore through the two-storey property just metres from Henley Square at Henley Beach in Adelaide’s west.

Thick black smoke blanketed the Esplanade as more than a dozen firefighters, backed by police and paramedics, raced to the scene around 1pm on Thursday.

The fireball erupted without warning, sending crowds of stunned onlookers scrambling for safety.

Traffic remains in chaos with Seaview Rd closed and drivers diverted down North St. The charred shell of the building is now visible from the street, its roof buckling under the damage.

The devastated homeowner was seen being comforted by loved ones as crews battled the flames. Despite their efforts, the home couldn’t be saved.
