Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Donald Trump could help Vladimir Putin “sober up” and negotiate a ceasefire just by delivering long-requested Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Ukraine has been pleading for the US’s permission to use these weapons for months, even though former president Joe Biden rejected Kyiv’s appeal for the long-range missiles when he was in office.
The subsonic missiles, designed for precision strikes, would allow Ukraine to reach targets as far as Siberia with a range of up to 1,550 miles.
But the Ukrainian president expressed renewed hope to journalists this week, claiming Trump might “give Ukraine some far-reaching things” which would strengthen Ukraine’s position in future peace talks.
Speaking on Thursday, Zelenskyy said: “Right now, it is important to send
