RUSKIN, Fla. (WFLA)— One year ago, Ruskin Methodist Church members went from celebration to recovery mode when Hurricane Milton ripped through the area, devastating this church on its centennial anniversary.

Today, it is hardly noticeable that this historic place of worship was once submerged under nearly 3 feet of water.

“The walls were all torn out from four foot down. And everywhere you look, there was electrical issues. There were, we lost computers. We lost our main printer. We lost a lot of stuff. But one of the things we didn't lose, of course, was our spirit, our willingness,” said Pastor Tom Emigh.

Pastor Tom Emigh sees the damage left behind by Hurricane Milton as a blessing of sorts.
