The Barrington Town Council signed off on a funding request made by the Barrington 250th Ad Hoc Committee.

The group, which is planning Barrington’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, requested $7,500 in funding from the town. During the Barrington Town Council meeting on Monday night, Oct. 6, officials discussed the request and councilors voted unanimously to grant the funding.

Committee members said there will also be a fund-raising effort to help off-set the costs for the upcoming celebration.

Committee chair Joyce Boyle detailed a buy-a-brick fund-raiser, where Barrington residents and business owners will be able to purchase bricks with personalized messages — those bricks will be used in a landscaped path located near a soon-to-be-planted “Liberty Tree.”
