As Montgomery continues to process this past weekend’s gun violence tragedy and many offer their thoughts and prayers, as a state lawmaker, I want to contribute to the conversation of constructive ideas and share with my constituents how I plan to address the problem in collaboration with others.

I want to begin by sharing that I had the privilege of meeting one of the victims, 17 year old Jeremiah Morris, while visiting his school last year. My prayers go out to all who knew and loved him, as well as those of the other victim, Shalanda Williams and all who are injured and impacted.

The problem of gun violence is multifaceted and deep-seated and demands a range of thoughtful approaches and solutions.
