A 56-year-old man is facing weapons-related charges after shots were fired and a shelter-in-place was issued in South Brook yesterday.

RCMP from Springdale and Grand Falls-Windsor responded to a disturbance at a home on the main road in South Brook around 4:00 yesterday afternoon.

Police had received multiple reports of shots being fired and officers determined that the man involved had retreated inside a home.

The house was surrounded and contained and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team was sent to the area to assist.

The shelter in place was issued around 5:00 p.m. out of what police call an abundance of caution as the incident unfolded.

The shelter in place was lifted once Gerard Fowlow was taken into custody.

Fowlow is scheduled to appear in court in Grand Falls-Windsor on charge
