AUSTIN, Texas — Many Austin ISD families are speaking out against the district’s proposed plan to close 13 schools amid budget concerns and declining enrollment.

The district released its draft consolidation plan last week, sparking backlash from parents who say the process feels rushed and lacks transparency.

Earlier this week, families rallied at Becker Elementary School , which is one of the schools slated for potential closure. On Thursday, that effort expanded into a districtwide rally outside Austin ISD headquarters.

Education Austin, the labor union representing AISD employees, organized three rallies, each before meetings between trustees and district leadership.
