CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A woman was arrested after a man was hit crossing the road in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said the crash happened shortly before 8:20 a.m. on Oct. 6. Hanh Hoang, 76, was said to be crossing Shopton Road West at Steele Creek Road, close to the Harris Teeter, when he was hit.
According to police, Hoang was in a marked crosswalk at the time.
He later died at the hospital.
The driver, 41-year-old Alma Velasquez, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle for failing to yield to the right of way for a pedestrian.
