An Edinburgh man who was lost in the Highlands for eight days without food has praised rescue teams for coming to his aid.
Ian Currie, 76, set off from Glenfinnan to walk the Cape Wrath Trail towards Knoydart on September 16 but went missing after he was caught up in bad weather conditions and missed his route.
The keen hillwalker, from Tollcross, spent eight days alone in the Highlands with no food before he was found and rescued by a stranger. A major multi-agency search was launched after Ian was reported missing by his frantic family.
Speaking for the first time since his harrowing ordeal, he told Edinburgh Live the situation was "traumatic" and is looking to thank all of those who helped him and his family at the time.
