A man has been arrested after carrying out a swathe of retail crimes across the UK including Edinburgh.
The Metropolitan Police and Police Scotland carried out a joint investigation into the spate of crimes which totalled over £600,000.
The 32-year-old was taken into custody on October 3 as part of Operation Opal, which focused on serious organised acquisitive crime, the Scottish Daily Express reports.
Between December 2024 and July 2025, seven reports of theft, robbery and fraud were reported in stores across Scotland, with numerous further offences in England.
The offences in Scotland took place within the North and East Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Forth Valley, and Glasgow areas and totalled losses of £18,000.
