Former Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood will appear in court next month, charged with sexual offences against seven different women.

The 68-year-old has been charged with 15 offences in total, including four counts of rape.

Westwood has also been charged with nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

The Metropolitan Police said the Crown Prosecution Service had authorised the charges following an investigation by detectives.

The Mirror reports that one alleged offence took place in 1983 when a 17-year-old girl was allegedly indecently assaulted in the Fulham area of London.

In 1986, a woman in her 20s was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Vauxhall area of London.
