NORA, Ill. — The derailment of a train in Jo Daviess County on Thursday caused local residents to be evacuated.
Just after 12 a.m. on Oct. 9, the Warren Fire Department was made aware of a train derailment in Nora at the intersection of North Stagecoach Trail and Chestnut Street.
First responders confirmed that 15 cars out of an 82-car Canadian National train carrying ethanol had derailed.
Following guidance from the Emergency Response Guide, the Warren FD and Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office evacuated about 100 residents out of safety concerns.
There are no injuries or deaths reported at this time.
Evacuated Nora residents who need help are directed to the Warren Community Building in Warren.
