SILVER BAY, Minn. — A wildfire burning inside a state park on Minnesota's North Shore is growing in size.

The Minnesota Incident Command System (MNICS) says the fire is located primarily in a remote and steep ridge area of George Crosby Manitou State Park , making it difficult for fire crews to reach. On Wednesday, the wildfire was reported at 30 acres in size, and by Thursday, it had grown to an estimated 50 acres, and is considered 0% contained.

MNICS shared that multiple aircraft were brought in Wednesday to provide water drops in hopes of slowing down active fire activity. The air support continues on Thursday as crews establish a containment line around the fire. The weather is not helpful, with warming temperatures and winds gusting from 20 to 25 mph.
