Plans for an elementary school in Stoney Creek have been scrapped under direction of the Ministry of Education following another year of concerns over foul smells coming from a nearby dump.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) said in an update it will no longer move forward with plans to build the new school at 399 First Road West.
Emma Testani, press secretary at the office of Ontario’s Education Minister Paul Caldera, said the minister “shares the community’s concerns” after CBC Hamilton asked if the decision has anything to do with the GFL facility.
