A homicide investigation by Ontario Provincial Police in Simcoe has led to the discovery of human remains in neighbouring Haldimand County, police said.

Norfolk County OPP say the remains were found around 6 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area off Hwy. 6, south of Stirling Street, just past the western edge of Caledonia.

While a post-mortem exam is being held Friday to confirm the identity and cause of death, police say they believe it's linked to an investigation in Simcoe, which saw one man charged with the murder of his mother.
