PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The “health and vitality” of small Portland businesses is at the center of a resolution approved by city leaders.
Portland City Council has voted in favor of District 2 Councilor Dan Ryan’s Resolution 2025-370 — which has been dubbed the Storefront Support Program. The program sets out to address the hurdles faced by independent business owners, with several of them relocating from the city or closing their stores altogether within the past several years.
When Councilor Ryan introduced the policy to the Arts and Economy Committee in late September, he revealed that the city’s business license revenue is expected to drop by $12 million this fiscal year.
