Approximately 200 employees have been on layoff since April 10.
About 160 more workers started layoff the day after Labor Day and were meant to return to work Oct. 6.
About 360 employees at General Motors’ electric vehicle manufacturing plant Factory Zero, in Detroit-Hamtramck, will remain on layoff for the remainder of the year, the automaker confirmed to the Detroit Free Press on Oct. 9.
GM told employees Aug. 27 that it planned to partially shut down first- and second-shift production temporarily beginning Sept. 2 in a memo.
The move impacted production of the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ, the company said.
