DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dr. Devon Horton, the superintendent of the DeKalb County School District, has been placed on paid administrative leave, the school board announced Thursday. This comes following a federal indictment, according to his former district in Illinois .

In a statement, the DeKalb County Board of Education said it was made aware of the indictment and that the paid administrative leave was effective immediately. In the meantime, the school board appointed Dr. Norman C. Sauce III to the role of acting superintendent.

"While we cannot comment on confidential personnel matters, we are concerned by these allegations," Chairperson Diedre Pierce shared in the statement.
