GOSHEN, Ind. — A northern Indiana father has pleaded guilty to murdering his 6-year-old son in August.
According to NBC affiliate WNDU , 29-year-old Franklin Elmore Jr. reached a "blanked plea agreement" with the court on Thursday, Oct. 9 and pleaded guilty to murder.
Online court records show Elmore's jury trial, which was scheduled for Nov. 3 at 8:30 a.m., has been canceled and that his sentencing hearing is now set for Nov. 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, online court records show the boy's stepmother, 27-year-old Cheyenne Elmore, filed a motion for continuance on Oct. 8, and WNDU reports that the judge overseeing the case granted the motion to allow Cheyenne to review her mental health records. She is also charged with murder.
